Being Your True You and Find Yourself

Everyone wants to be accepted by their peers and people around them but if you have to always change and be something else or bend over backward to make people like you, this is wrong. You should not have to be a people pleaser to have people approve of you. This will be something that you do, and it will be stressful. Stop trying to please other people and learn to put yourself first.

Identity Loss

If you are always putting others first, you will begin to lose who you really are. You will look at your life and the people around you and you will realize that you change when you are around these people. Look at all of your social situations and see how you behave in them.

Maybe you avoid talking about things in your life so that you can look better or maybe you change your personality completely so that you can not let people see the real you. Stop feeling like you need to hide your flaws or your quirks for people to like you. This is what makes you interesting and neat.

Wasting Energy and Time

Do you make plans with people to do things that they love but you don’t want to really do it?  Have you ever had someone cancel and you were so glad because you have a hard time saying no? Always be mindful of who you are hanging with and what makes you happy.

Confidence

Changing your personality to make others happy means that you are getting lower self-esteem and you are not confident in who you are. If you hide who you are from those around you, you are worrying too much about what other people think about you and you care too much about other people. Stop letting your wonderful personality hide and stop being worried about who you are.

Good Relationships

A person that will want you to change or to be someone you aren’t, isn’t someone that you should probably not want to have in your life. If you cannot embrace who you are and be the best that you can be, then your relationship probably has no meaning.

Find people that like you for you and that accept you for who you are. These are the good relationships you will have. Some of these include:

  • Friendships
  • Mentors
  • Teachers
  • Coaches
  • Girlfriend/boyfriend

Never change yourself to please others. Be true to yourself and let your happiness come to you.
